Location: Takoma Park is a city in Montgomery County, Maryland. It is a suburb of Washington DC. Founded in 1883 and incorporated in 1890, Takoma Park, informally called “Azalea City,” and is a planned commuter suburb located just northeast of Washington, D.C. It is a hilly area with numerous narrow gridded streets.

Atmosphere: Takoma Park is known for a variety of cultural events, most notable of which is the Takoma Park Folk Festival, which attracts an audience from across the Mid-Atlantic region. Takoma Park residents seem to value community over consumerism, and the town is the kind of place where engaging with fellow neighbors around shared interests is valued.

Takoma Park Street Festival: The Takoma Park Street Festival takes place on a mile stretch of Carroll Avenue in Takoma Park, MD to Carroll Street, NW in Takoma, DC with over 200 artisans, community groups, children’s activities, food vendors and a variety of green companies. The festival has three stages that play host to 18 popular local bands
Every Sunday from 10 AM to 2 PM is the Takoma Park Farmers’ Market, fresh produce and prices that won’t break the bank.
